**Job Purpose**

Performs a variety of research and related tasks supporting the Head of Research, Farming and Trader teams.

**Minimum professional qualifications and experience**
- Qualification in. BSc Agric: Agricultural Economics and/or related.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Database management & maintenance.
- Supply & Demand Analysis for grains & oilseeds.
- Crop Estimates grains & oilseeds (physical and statistical).
- Involved in crop modelling grains & oilseeds (estimates as well as development).
- Communication and reporting to traders & groups concerning changes in supply and demand.
- Ad hoc crop tours in and around South Africa.

**Essential skills**
- Excellent communication skills (written, and verbal) in Afrikaans and English.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Team player and able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment with multi-tasking skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Planning, organizing and excellent time management skills.
- Critical thinker with emotional resilience to overcome obstacles.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent numerical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

**Desirable skills**
- Qualification preferred i.e. BSc Agric: Agricultural Economics (Post Graduate, Honors) Degree.
- Knowledge and exposure to Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
- At least 1-year demonstrated experience in a research role.
- Work experience in the Agricultural field is advantageous.
- Operational Management background in the agricultural industry is beneficial.
- Grains and oilseeds (maize, wheat, soya beans, sunflower seed) knowledge is beneficial.

**General**
- Office based in Techno Park, Stellenbosch.
- Work model - full-time attendance, Monday to Friday with ad hoc flexible days working from home.
- Reports to Head of Research: SSA
- Salary is a market-related basic salary, with medical and provident benefits.
- 18 days annual leave.
- Harvest, planting and seasonal periods apply.
- **NB This role is not a fast track to becoming a trader.
