**Qualification**

Former brewing experience and/or brewing qualification (advantageous)

Scientific/Food Science/Engineering qualification (advantageous)

Passion for the art and science of brewing

Knowledge of chemical safety and best practices working with materials under pressure

Understanding of OHS

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Operate all phases of production to the standard and efficiency as required by internal and external process instructions and procedures.
- Malt handling
- Brewhouse
- Yeast handling and pitching
- Fermentation control
- Dry-hopping
- Beer transfers
- Filtration
- Pasteurization
- QA/QC (sample taking/measurement)

Maintain high hygiene standards in brewhouse/ fermentation cellar / Bright Beer Tank area.

Keep area of responsibility clean at all times, and ensure cleaning standards are adhered to before leaving area of work.

Maintain SHE standards in workplace.

Prepare and clean all vessels, as required, both manually and using the CIP system.

Maintain accurate production records. Ensure accurate completion before leaving the premises and/or handing over to next shift.

Accurate sample-taking and analysis at all points during the brewing process.

Report deviations and non-conformances to Shift Brewer / Brewmaster and assist to resolve where able to.

Assist / lead (where applicable) Continuous Improvement of processes and procedures.

Carry out autonomous (preventative) maintenance in area of responsibility and report any breakdowns / machine faults or required maintenance to Maintenance Technician.

Monitor inventory of raw materials and consumables and efficient use there-of.

Assist with walk-around inspections of area of responsibility and report deviations to maintenance technician / shift brewer as applicable.

Additional ad hoc responsibilities as requested from the Shift Brewer/ Brewmaster, within reason, and within the capability of the junior brewer.

Assist in other areas as per production plan.

**Working Conditions**

Ability to work shifts, including traditional work days, mid or swing shifts and the occasional weekend, if required.
Capable of standing on your feet for long periods of time.
Ability to work in a noisy environment.

**Salary**: R7,000.00 - R12,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Darling, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (preferred)

**Experience**:

- 6 months (required)
