**Purpose of the role**:

- Supervise and manage the operational areas of the plant (Basic, THC, & Precast) and related functions.
- Manage and ensure achieve daily production targets.
- Accountable for the appropriate resource allocation, planning and scheduling of the operational areas, in terms of people, time, budget and quality expectations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- To manage resources to achieve optimal production output in relevant process area. Support the

Operations Manager in conducting production, with specific relevance to process: work safety, product quality, economic efficiency, and logistics.

**Key Role Responsibilities**:

- Ensure availability of resources for the shift and other equipment, to ensure productivity and mínimal downtime.
- Liaise with Maintenance Group Leader to ensure equipment availability.
- Ensure reduction of expenses and increase productivity by ensuring employees adhere to process and start and finish work as scheduled.
- Ensure employees in the shift are inducted, trained in Standard Operating Procedures, and adhere to health and safety practices and policies.
- Lead and drive shift meetings and safety briefings at the start of the shift with the cross functional team
- Communicate shift targets to employees and ensure achievement.
- Provide motivation, support, training, and guidance to your shift.
- Communicate any challenges or obstacles to Operations Manager.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures to enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety, integrity, and client standards.
- Ensure production schedules for employees to achieve optimum output levels.
- Ensure that processes run reliably and efficiently by planning and organising production schedules, assessing project and resource requirements.
- Ensure achievement of production targets to client expectation (qualitatively and quantitatively)
- Determine and ensure adherence to strict quality control standards.
- Production responsibility in terms of safety, environmental friendliness, cost, quality and on time production
- Effectiveness and efficiency of the shift to fulfil production targets
- Health safety and hygiene requirements are followed and trained with subordinates and compliance with requirements is constantly controlled.
- Efficient usage of raw materials, consumables, utilities, maintenance materials and management of scrap.
- Support optimum plant equipment availability.
- Organise and supervise first line maintenance/ok to start (O2S).

- Monitor compliance with relevant quality requirements and instruct subordinates as to environmental issues.
- Constantly train and assess subordinates in all relevant matter and case of poor performance take corrective action
- Regularly assess equipment and process to improve operation efficiency and reduce cost and risk
- Check production volumes against schedule dates and plan
- Directing processing and allocation of daily orders as per required production schedule
- Ensure that first off runs are submitted to Lab for quality analysis and approval.
- Ensure that plant is prepared (cleaned and serviced) before each run (5S)
- Supervise correct labelling of packaging including batch numbers before handover to logistics.
- Financial (Budget) - Oversee the plant budget in line with the financial parameters and limits.

Accountable to limit raw material/stock/process losses within the set parameters.
- Customer - achieving internal customer satisfaction objectives by providing professional and effective production process.
- Meeting and achieving all applicable HSEQ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Production

Areas. Communication of all safety related aspects which may have a negative impact on the business.
- Conduct Practical Problem Solving (PPS) projects to solve plant problems
- Promote continuous improvement within all aspects of Monolithic plant and processes.
- KAIZEN Implementation on shop floor.

Ensure full compliance of the Vesuvius Group and local safety standards, policies and procedures.

**Qualifications, Skills and experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree: Chemical/Industrial Engineering
- Minimum 4 - 5 years Supervisory experience in manufacturing environment, process engineering experience would be advantageous.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft package and Syspro).
