**Job Description**:

- As a Safety Assurance Specialist you will be responsible to support and advise the line organisation in executing self-assurance against standards, procedures, regulations as well as supporting external audits.

**Your role will include but not limited to**:
**Performance and Delivery**
- Provide input on effective corrective actions needed to mitigate issues identified in audits
- Coach line on best ways to do audits and identify ways to improve efficacy/reduce need for the audit
- Drive the process to obtain and retain appropriate external certificates
- Introduce new technology to auditing/assurance approach, and ways to be more efficient and effective
- Provide input to monitoring approach to ensure as efficient as possible

- Improve sustainability performance of the organisation over time
- Work in an integrated way to provide a multi-disciplinary approach and balanced view across all major disciplines

**People & Teams**
- Contribute to a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the site safety function that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity

**Compliance**
- Support compliance with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements
- Ensure compliance with Anglo American requirements
- Selectively Support investigation of high-severity and high-potential incidents (safety, health, environmental and social)

**Qualifications
- Qualifications required**:

- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as science, engineering, or other related careers plus a formal qualification in Safety combined with practical safety experience of at least 3 to 5 years; local requirements might deviate according to laws and regulations

**Experience required**:

- Detailed knowledge of Operational Risk Management as well as a thorough understanding of operations
- Demonstrated experience in an assurance position within a technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing with broader stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience working in an assurance position at a project, operation or BU level in mining Industry.
- Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues at all levels and coordinating disciplines relevant to assurance
- An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining operations
- Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and the important role of consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values
