**Introduction**
A well reputable minerals refinery company based in JHB is looking for a Senior Chemist to join their Research & Development company

**Purpose of the Role**
To research and develop new processes and technologies for the separation and refining of precious metals and base metals as determined by the company. This includes bench scale, pilot scale and scale-up studies to determine the chemical and financial viability for implementation on commercial scale.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Gather and review background literature and information relevant to an identified
- Determine and set up the necessary experimental apparatus for the required
- Generate, analyse, and critically assess the research data (IT skills essential).
- Compile regular, detailed project reports, indicating findings, and process efficiencies and
- Present projects to management for assessment, possible scale-up, or plant

**Minimum experience & qualifications required**
- BSc (Honours) (with majors in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Metallurgy)
- PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Metallurgy will be a definite
- A high level of practical laboratory, instrumentation, and chemical problem-solving experience and
- A passion for experimental chemical research and innovation, especially in
- Medically fit for both the Platinum Metals Refinery and Base Metals

**Behavioural skills required**
- The position requires technical aptitude, interpersonal, managerial, and innovative skills
- Valid Code 8 driving license.
- Excellent info interpretation & reporting skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
