Technician, Metallurgy Development

**Job Advert Summary**:
**PURPOSE**:

- To assist Plant Operations in achieving reliable operational business performance and improved operational execution.
- To support the operations team in the achievement of physical standards related to plant operations in order to perform at throughput, cost, product quality and process efficiency with some degree of freedom.
- To support the operations team with guidance on plant operating rules and procedures that will support stable and improved performance.
- To support the Metallurgical process performance program with the execution of audits and assessments, tracking and trending performance as well as analysing and correcting performance.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- N Dip: Chemical Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
- N Dip: Extraction Metallurgy (Essential/Minimum)
- NH Dip: Extractive Metallurgy (Recommended/Desirable)
- Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)

**EXPERIENCE**:
5 years Successfully completed P1, P2 training, exposure to operations (processing, laboratory, product logistics), completed and implemented operational improvement assignments. (Essential/Minimum) Operational

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Business Performance and Operations**
- Support the operations team in the achievement of physical standards related to plant operations in order to perform at throughput, cost, product quality and process efficiency
- Assure that operations teams operate plant equipment within its design/approved parameters by trending and reporting deviations
- Coordinate and execute the activities required to ensure operational execution of the product quality control strategy and management plan
- Support the operations team with guidance on plant operating rules and procedures that will support stable and improved performance
- Assist in/compile production and performance reports and ensure efficient record keeping/document control

**Compliance, Governance and Assurance**
- Execute work under guidance of seniors to deliver services for process development

**Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management**
- Conduct assurance reviews and give feedback to operations supervisors and seniors on operational matters
- Work in close cooperation with operations management to align to their targets, challenges and opportunities

**Functional Excellence**
- Support the metallurgical process performance program with; execution of audits and assessments, tracking and trending performance, analysing and correcting performance
- Design, execute and manage laboratory test work as required
- Short term planning and scheduling of process development test work campaign
- Participate in, and support of the on-boarding of new plant capacity and on-site equipment test work including pilot plant operations
- Attend to problems in which ingenuity and creative thinking are required in adapting existing equipment or techniques
- Write and value add technical reports of a high standard that improves understanding and recommend improvements on operational performance
