The Manager Emissions Management will form part of a dedicated, infrastructure and emissions reduction team who are responsible to implement a clear infrastructure and emissions strategy and governance model within MTN to create portfolio visibility, enable greater efficiency and reduce carbon emissions across our footprint while promoting environment friendly business.

This role is responsible for the conceptualisation, development, management and introduction of emissions measurement, monitoring and reduction management strategies across the Group that will enable MTN to become more socially and environmentally responsible. The role is responsible for effectively managing sustainable network design and planning solutions for the often conflicting needs of people, the environment, development and successful business.

The role will provide input and guidance in evaluating the impact MTN’s OpCo’s are having on the environment (for example, their carbon footprint) and then managing all related projects from planning and building, through to remediation, reporting and restoration. This role will also be at the forefront of initiating sustainable technologies and will also be accountable to close the performance and efficiency gap between MTN and industry best practices.

Context

MTN is entering a new phase in its lifecycle where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. The urgency for change has become more heightened amidst increased competitive intensity across all markets in which MTN operates. The Group’s Technology function must therefore ensure the successful delivery in context of:

- Rapidly changing ICT environment
- The geographic complexity of MTN’s foot print across Africa and the Middle East
- Management of executive and local shareholder expectations across all 20 OpCos
- Achievement of top quartile operating efficiency and effectiveness through scale and common processes
- Driving growth through business intelligence and standardization to maximize business impact
- Initiating sustainable technology change across the infrastructure portfolio to further aid MTN in the achievement of parallel climate sustainability
- Ability to create a technological and emission reduction strategy in line with the company’s business requirements
- Enhancing MTN’s position as a leading connectivity and infrastructure player
- MTN’s strategy to build the largest and most valuable platform business across our regions
- Management of customer and supplier expectations
- Enhance MTN position as a leading network and system provider Constant dynamics and local challenges in the economic, regulatory and legal environments

The team will support all 20 MTN markets in the realization of the MTN carbon emission reduction strategy vision and drive all key emission and green technology decisions, ultimately supporting the MTN overall strategic ambition to better monetize our infrastructure base, improve efficiencies and deliver savings in the long-term while promoting environment awareness.

This team will also be responsible in overseeing the OpCo Project Zero budget envelope and will be the operational and technical expertise hub for all related green energy build projects and due diligence, acting at the forefront of initiating sustainable technology change across the infrastructure portfolio to further aid MTN in the achievement of parallel climate sustainability.
