**Key Purpose**
- The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the management of the SAP environment. The responsibilities include configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment on an ongoing basis as well as scheduling and executing the SAP transport system.
- Collaborates to resolve SAP transport and source code problems, and is responsible for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP systems.
- Responsible for supporting core enterprise systems built on technologies such as SAP S4 HANA, SAP PI, IBO, GRC, SAP WEB DISPATCHER (SAP WD), SAP CRM, SAP BTP and SAP SOLUTION MANAGER

**Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to**
- **Consultation**: Ensuring integration of enterprise solutions and proposals.
- Upgrade processes to align other areas to conform to SAP standards.
Technical advice for new SAP projects.
Provide architectural (Hardware and software) recommendations. Execute investigations to identify causes of problems and suggest and implement technical solutions.- **Planning - **Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects, sets objectives, and goals, breaks down work in process steps, develops schedules and task/people assignments, anticipates, and adjusts for problems and roadblocks, measures performance against goals and evaluates results. Provide professional advice in terms of project scope, assisting with the implementation of the relevant strategy and considering & communicating the organisational impact.
- **Implementation of Best practices**: Implementing SAP best practises in the context of the Business Unit and their technology partners; Advises on change management approaches and their technology partners to minimize business or operational impact. The documentation and updating of the existing SAP environment and work with IT and business units to modernize the SAP environment. Continuously seeking opportunities to improve current processes that will enhance efficiency and drive costs down.
- **Support Services**: Provide expert level support to unresolved technical challenges.

Assure the highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, security, and availability of the SAP environment under his/her responsibility, consistent with the resources available and the established change control policies and prescribed procedures. Correct reported problems with SAP software and communication interfaces under his/her responsibility. Knowledge transferring - Transfer of job product knowledge and technology through coaching and mentoring staff. Contribute to the SAP community at Group Shared Systems through sharing experiences and information, which has been gathered through research and execution of projects.
- **Capacity Management** that enables an organization to tactically manage resources and strategically plan for future resource requirements.
- Ensure the capability of the production environment to deliver adequate and cost-effective performance and continuous operations.
Ensure the capacity of the production environment is sufficient to meet forecasted business requirements cost effectively.
Proactively planning possible implications investigated in the future by comparison with the current capacity.
Assist in sizing and designing the corporate SAP system architecture as required for installed and proposed systems.
- **Problem solving** - Uses rigorous logic and methods to resolve complicated technical problems with effective solutions, probes all fruitful sources for answers, detect hidden problems,
- Approaches problem solving beyond the obvious and ensures that the problems are being resolved in a timely and concise manner.
- Act as a resource as needed during critical system outages to provide management with business impact information necessary to make decisions.
- **Release Management** includes testing, verification, and release of changes to the SAP environment.
- Ensure the necessary control processes are instituted to provide a stable production environment.
Ensure new services and changes to existing services are introduced to the Production environment in a controlled and non-disruptive manner.
