Hvac Assistant

SFI Group, a national air-conditioning service and maintenance company seeks to employ a HVAC Assistant who is responsible for conducting day to day tasks as directed by the artisan responsible for overseeing the area - requires knowledge and understanding and use of portable technical equipment.

**OVERALL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Adherence to health and safety standards**
- Responsible for safe working practices, own safety and of that of colleagues
- Use equipment in line with safety practices
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies and procedures, including safety procedures and maintenance of a clean work area.

**Performing day to day task as directed**
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components or wiring.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks with soap-and-water solution.
- Perform preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, oiling parts, and changing filters.
- Assist with the installation of replacement components to heating-cooling equipment, such as valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers following prescriptions
- Assist with work coordination within the repair and maintenance teams

**Housekeeping**
- Ensure good house keeping
- Cleaning area of work and areas as requested by supervisors
- General site establishment prior to work commences

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**

**Experience**:

- Minimum 2 years experience in HVAC commercial maintenance / service industry

**Qualifications**:

- Grade12 or N3 with Mathematics and Science
- Drivers Licence advantageous

**Knowledge**:

- **Mechanical - **Basic knowledge of machines and tools
- **Repairing - **Basic repairs and assisting with repairs as per task list.
- **Equipment Maintenance - **Performing routine maintenance on equipment as per task list
- **Active Learning -** Understanding HVAC systems, the various components, their functions and pro-actively seek out knowledge
