Technical Expeditor

**Technical Expeditor - Casting and Engineering works**

Seeking a technical expeditor who has had experience in a foundry environment, understanding the process and quality controls from pattern-making to the final cast and machined product. A strong understanding of drawings, quality control of cast products and casting defects.

**Day to day responsibilities**
- Weekly visits to foundries to expedite orders and provide updates to customers
- Submitting RFQ’s to foundries and quoting customers
- Pattern and casting inspections, filling out casting inspection card and PQC files
- Updating the pattern register
- Controlling and submitting material certificates for customers
- Planning customer deliveries to ensure all goods are invoiced on time.
- Annual verification of pattern locations, pattern maintenance to ensure pattern ondition and restoration.
- Annual audits on foundries
- Liaising with customers and foundries on failed/rejected castings, filling out non-conformances, liaising preventative measures with suppliers
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure that credits are received timeously for scrap castings
- Conducting quarterly stocktakes
- **Interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings**: Reading detailed plans to understand the required dimensions, tolerances, and features of the castings to be made
- **Quality control**:
Inspecting castings for defects like cracks, porosity, or dimensional inaccuracies, and taking corrective actions.
- **Laying out work**: Marking the metal stock with the precise locations for cuts and machining operations.
- **Testing and inspecting**: Verifying that the completed castings meet the specifications through testing and quality checks using precision measuring instruments.

Experience and Expertise:

- **Knowledge of Mold making**: Knowledge of creating molds using sand, ceramic, or other materials based on patterns, ensuring accurate dimensions and cavity details.
- **Knowledge of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals**:

- **Knowledge of the casting process**: A good understanding of the casting process and casting defects
- **Knowledge of Finishing operations**: Understanding of operations like grinding, shot blasting, or machining to refine the casting surface.

- **Attention to detail**: Ensuring precise mold placement and maintaining quality standards
- **Independency**: Be able to work independently, energetic and strong charactered to deal with customers and suppliers to expedite requirements, ensuring production goals are met
- **Good math skills**: Calculating metal quantities and measurements and casting weights
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of different materials, mechanical properties and their machining properties
- Precision measuring skills
- Ability to work with tight tolerances
- Problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer skills for CAD/CAM software an advantage

- Manufacturing plants and foundries
- Machine shops
- Pattern Making shops
