Opportunity Available Our leading client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Production Manager to join their dynamic team in East London.

**Management**:

- Leading functional/departmental managers/teams in line with departmental objectives and corporate direction
- Setting departmental targets for cascading down through the production levels (middle and junior management) in line with company targets
- Installing, developing and maintaining strong successful departments
- Efficient utilisation of resources
- Develop and maintain a sound organisational structure for each department
- Adhere to the company communication system and ensure that the same information is passed through the organisation.

**Performance**:

- Set proper targets for all managers in line with the company’s key performance areas/ratio’s/monthly review - efficiency, absenteeism. Quality PPM’s, audits, stock days,, project management, scrap, volumes, production planning, training, discipline, communication
- Carry out annual performance assessments and communicate to managers
- Assess deviations and devise action and development plans to address these
- Ensure that targets are met or appropriate pro-active communication to Managing Director where targets will not be met
- Make the necessary proposals and justifications regarding the departmental performance
- Ensure that there are specific control/audit mechanisms in place to manage the departments properly
- Ensure that all employees within the responsible departments have targets and are all measured regularly
- Align and ensure that functional departments focus on supporting the production activities
- Drive the culture of continuous improvement and ensure that all employees contribute towards the CIP program and that their participation is measured and recorded
- Install and maintain pro-active planning mechanisms for the responsible departments
- Adherence to the quality management system
- Ensure adequate levels of housekeeping and operational standards - FIFO

**Budget Control**:

- Ensure that monthly and annual budget requirements are met
- Monitor monthly departmental costs
- Active participation in solutions

**People development**:

- Ensure that the departments do a training needs assessment and that the employees receive adequate training and development through the annual
- company training and development plan
- Ensure that this is measured on a monthly basis
- Ensure that there is compliance to the organisational succession plan for the responsible departments

**Business review**:

- Ensure regular reporting, analysis and review of departmental results and proper feedback to H/O and management team as required
- Ensure that various departmental meetings are held and actioned with responsibilities and timing - production, supervisors, teams, and departmental meetings

**Leadership**:

- Lead managers with a management style which is conducive to open communication, transparency and fairness and which encourages motivation and personal development
- Install and maintain a high degree of professionalism in business matters
- Encourage managers to pro-actively plan and think both tactically and strategically
- Ensure that managers are given the tools

**Job Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- Engineering or Production Degree or Diploma
- 10 years relevant manufacturing experience
- Automotive Sector
