**Job Purpose**:
Key Responsibility Areas**:
Manages the operational dedicated uniform functions. Supervision and control of subordinate staff. Attends to driving suspensions. Attends any major accidents, accidents involving injured on duty incidents and or damage to or involvement in accidents of police vehicles or personnel. Provides advice and guidance to members assigned to general street / public duties with regard to the more efficient carrying out of their tasks. Attends any incidents which involves a member of the force and which may have serious future consequences (political / unrest effects, etc). Attends to complaints. Undertakes visible policing by visiting patrols and other subordinates on duty and inspecting such personnel. Supervises court attendance. In addition to dedicated core uniform operational functions a police sergeant manages the Crime Prevention Units (Street Crime), General Motor Patrol (Enforcement) Sections, Traffic Light Enforcement and Speed Timing Sections, Motor Patrol (Transport Sections), Public Transport (Investigations Section), Charge Offices, Auxiliaries Sections, Street Child Units (Investigations Units), Special Patrol Groups, Street Crime (Informal Trading Units), Nuisance Units (Complaints) as well as field training, Dog and Horse Units, Road Safety Liaison Sections, Information Sections, Public Relations Section (Headquarters function), Foot Patrol Sections, Warrant Sections, Specific Visiting Stations, Training Division (Headquarters Function), Communication Centres, Traffic Warden Sections and Duty Offices.**
Essential Requirements**:
Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, i.e. National Diploma or Degree. Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B). 3 Years relevant experience. Computer Literacy.**
Preferred Requirements**:
4 Years relevant experience.**
