Hvmv Engineer

PURPOSE
- To design, plan, and manage the HV and LV electrical infrastructure, including substations, necessary to connect the PV system to the grid, ensuring reliable power transmission and grid interconnection.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop detailed designs and specifications for high voltage and medium voltage substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations.
- Coordinate with grid operators and utility companies to facilitate the interconnection of the PV system with the electrical grid.
- Design and oversee the layout of electrical distribution systems, ensuring proper sizing and routing for the PV system.
- Enforce safety protocols and standards for high voltage and medium voltage electrical work, protecting workers, equipment, and the overall safety of the project site.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the proper construction, installation, and commissioning of high voltage and medium voltage equipment
- Oversee the procurement of high voltage and LV equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
- Develop protection schemes and coordinate with protection engineers to safeguard the PV system and the electrical grid.
- Supervise the testing and commissioning of substation equipment and electrical systems to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults within the substation and the electrical infrastructure, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure that all high voltage and LV work complies with relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive records of substation and electrical infrastructure documentation, including schematics, as-built drawings, and technical reports.

INTERNAL / EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
- Internally with Substation Manager
- Externally with Sub contractors

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8 years of Experience in similar HV/MV position (Especially with Eskom standards).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / FEATURES
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations

**Salary**: R75,000.00 per month

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

- Diploma (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Electrical Engineering: 5 years (required)

License/Certification:

- HVMV engineer qualification (required)
