**Responsibilities of the Job**:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be responsible for high level strategy execution and is responsible for Planning, Leading, Organizing and Control of the Technical Department. This incumbent will lead the overall improvement of the product quality / cost and customer service.

The following is the incumbents responsibility but does not solely include: continuous improvements of the current product range, design of new or alternative products, servicing customer needs, development and implementation of systems / methods / processes to ensure compliance to the Company''s International requirements and in line with ISO 9001. The incumbent will be responsible for innovating the Company''s products to enable protection against the competition.

**SKILLS REQUIRED**:
Excellent verbal and written communication

Solid presentation skills and ability to explain complex processes

Excellent problem-solving skills

Ability to enforce and maintain high standards, even under pressure

General and senior management skills

A passionate, highly energetic and driven individual with strong leadership ability, emotional intelligence and intellectual depth.

Ability to manage staff in a multi-cultured environmet

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Technicon in South Africa.
- Rail industry knowledge is mandatory.
- Experience in Business Development.
- Drawing Office Skills and the use of Solidworks and/or another CAD software will be advantageous.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
10 years experience in a manufacturing and senior management environment
