Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in our facility. Your expertise in mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and equipment optimization will be crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our machinery.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

**Experience & Requirements**:

- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Technician
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, conveyors, motors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Proficiency in performing mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Experience in conducting preventive maintenance activities and creating maintenance schedules
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools and equipment
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in mechanical operations
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
- Valid driver's license and availability of reliable transportation

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Install, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, compressors, conveyors, motors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or failures in a timely manner
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities, such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment, according to maintenance schedules
- Create and update maintenance records, documenting all maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements performed
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance strategies and improvement plans
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to understand equipment specifications and operating procedures
- Utilize precision measurement tools and equipment to ensure accurate alignment, calibration, and adjustment of mechanical components
- Comply with safety protocols and regulations during all mechanical operations, taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents and injuries
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, adhering to manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines
- Keep abreast of advancements in mechanical technology and industry best practices, recommending appropriate upgrades or modifications to enhance equipment performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and technicians, to support equipment installation, upgrades, or modifications
- Assist in the procurement of spare parts and equipment, ensuring their proper inventory management and availability
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians, promoting their professional growth and development

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 36 months

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Pretoria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
