**Position**

Artisan/Electrician

**Start Date: ASAP**

**Job Purpose**:
Repair, maintenance and service for all electrical equipment, machinery and electrical installations. You should be well prepared to do your job with all safety precautions, as well as experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems.

**Required: Qualifications**

Matric (Grade 12)
N3 Electrical Engineering Certificate
National Trade Test Certificate or Military Artisan Certificate provided by OEM or accredited agent of OEM

**Required: Experience**

2-3 Years' experience in electrical areas within the Navy/Ships
2-3 Years' experience in Fault Finding & Repairs.
Proven capability of executing maintenance of equipment
Maintenance and repairs of ships systems: Electrical, electronic & control systems (Advantage)

**Required: Knowledge**

Basic knowledge of Electrical systems,
Knowledge of electrical hazards
Basic knowledge of drilling machines/ angle grinders.
Circuit tester — Continuity testers; Loop testers, clamp meter, insulation tester and other related test equipment
Knowledge of Medium Voltage switching
Microsoft Office Suite (advantage)
Valid Driver's License.

**Job Specification & Key Responsibilities**

Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Interpret job card requirements and identify all the resources required to perform a job.
Conduct risk assessments and mitigate any identified risks.
Execute the job, adhering to all instructions, procedures, policies and regulations and staying within time and cost constraints.
Liaise with, support and assist superiors, project managers and other sections to ensure optimum completion of jobs.
Repair and maintenance to a variety of electrical machinery and installations comprising of sub stations, transformers, MV switching, rectifiers, low voltage reticulation, shore supply connections, diesel generators, frequency convertors etc.
Complete all preventative maintenance schedules and job cards.
Abide by, promote and partake in all safety, health, environmental, quality and security requirements.
Observe all applicable industrial relations requirements.
Responsible for safety and housekeeping Maintenance
