Reporting to the Head of production, the incumbent will be required to manage paper machine clothing and packaging inventory (as well as chemical inventory on an adhoc basis) in accordance with the mill’s safety, environmental & quality procedures to ensure uninterrupted supply of machine clothing and packaging consumables to the papermaking operations.

**MINMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED**:
**Essential**:

- Matric with Maths and Physical Science / NTC3
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management (NQF6).
- A relevant qualification in the engineering field will be advantageous

**JOB EXPERIENCE**:

- 3 to 5 years operational inventory control experience or a similar role, preferably within the pulp & paper industry.

**LICENCES / MANDATORY TRAINING**:

- Overhead Crane Licence
- Forklift Licence desirable

**RESPONSIBILITIES / KPAS**:

- Perform all tasks in accordance with the mill’s safety, environmental & quality policies
- Manage, maintain & improve PM31’s clothing & packaging inventory management system & inventory risk profile along with Production, Supplier & Procurement teams
- Planning & placing clothing & packaging inventory orders
- Track & receipt clothing & packaging inventory shipments, arrange movements, storage, inspection, rotation (FIFO) & issuing of clothing & packaging inventory at the paper machine
- Performing regular inventory stock counts (weekly / monthly) & report / resolve consumption variances against budget
- Maintaining inventory databases and systems (PEx, MCIT, MIS, Supplier evaluation)
- Create Work orders & direct purchases as well as track against budget
- Participate in internal & external Audits
- Identify areas for cost improvements through Trials
- Oversee running of the Core room (Uptime, Quality, safety)
- Support the PM31 operations during planned shuts (PTW, Clothing changes & inspections)
- Stand in during the absence of the chemical inventory controller
- Provide afterhours & standby support

**JOB COMPETENCIES / ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS**:

- Have good knowledge of PM31 processes
- Be able to work well under pressure and have excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to plan & multitask
- Possess strong analytical & trouble shooting skills to resolve inventory discrepancies
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
- Be a Team player
- Excellent Computer literacy skills - MS office, SAP, MIS, MRP and excellent knowledge of the mill’s work order process
