**Position details**:
Type: Permanent
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Primary Purpose: Responsible to take charge of the mechanical maintenance and improvement of the plant in order to keep the optimum efficiency of the equipment at optimal cost within the required safety standards, quality requirement and environmental standards.
Travel requirements: No
Job description / core competencies:
- Will be responsible to take charge of the mechanical maintenance and improvement of the plant in order to keep the optimum efficiency of the equipment at optimal cost within the required safety standards, quality requirement and environmental standards.
- Implement preventive and conditional maintenance policy.
- Improve the reliability of the equipment in accordance with the request of the internal customers.
- Regularly analyse the skill levels of the maintenance workshop personnel.
- Establish a training plan, which must be validated by the Engineering Manager.
- Ensure that all work is done by his department as well as liaison with the suppliers used within agreed period.
- Organize the workshop in order to optimize its performance.
- Maintain a constructive relationship with other departments.
- Initiate investigations into improvement of reliability.
- Daily analysis of incidents or problems encountered.
- Draft a provisional routine budget for the workshop.
- Anticipate the needs and requests of his customers through a detailed analysis of all the events encountered.
- Respect through his activities the safety, quality and environmental rules established by the plant management.
- Maintain the plant at an optimum level.
- Implement continuous performance improvement in all domains.
- Plan in a daily basis with his team leaders, the work prepared by the methods office as well as the interventions not programmed according to their urgency.
- Participate in the establishment of programmed work with the methods office.
- Ensure smooth execution of all the job requests.
- Report daily to the Engineering Manager on the difficulties encountered during the interventions.
- Provide the interface between the internal customers and the operating team.

**Job Qualifications**:
- BTech (Mechanical), MDP or equivalent
- GCC (Mines& Works and/or Factories)
**Skills & Experience**:
- Development of a performance-orientation thinking amongst the employees in the workshop.
- Active participation in continuous improvement and development of a “continuous improvement attitude” amongst the employees of the workshop.
- Development of employees in the workshop in accordance with the employment equity act.
- Develop and maintain inter-department communication.
- Promotion of a safe environment friendly and efficient operation.
