We are looking for a Legal Practice Lead to spearhead and supervise various specialist regulatory initiatives, practices, programmes and projects within an

organisation/segment, ensure efficiency and smooth workflow and as a practice leader, identify project needs and participate in setting goals and objectives for the practice discipline and enable implementation by providing practice knowledge expertise inputs, guidance and advice to stakeholders

The purpose of the Regulatory Practice Lead is to formulate the tactical strategy and associated delivery plans related to a compliance discipline like competition law and/or data privacy and/or financial crime and/or consumer law, ensuring practice integration and operational implementation through the achievement of legal management objectives to guide the segment and business unit compliance team by providing

expert advice to minimize regulatory, reputational and compliance risk and endeavor to avert potential litigations/ penalties.

- Provide legal advice and expertise in specific regulations and take responsibility for interpretation of the regulations
- Review legal data and advise the organization on appropriate legal action to be taken in/on specific regulatory matters
- Identify and communicate current and anticipated legal and/or financial risks with a legal implication.
- Identify room for improvement or 'loopholes' in the current mandates space and provide general legal advice.
- Provide advice on business practices and policies in order to ensure legal compliance and protect the organisation from legal action.
- Provide guidance on the assessment and monitoring of the internal controls to drive compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, managing the implementation of formal compliance audits.
- Provide legal advice and support to all business units, functional areas and advise management teams on legal matters.
- Identify and communicate current and anticipated legal and/or financial risks with a legal implication
- Monitor, analyse and evaluate the impact and legal implications of developments in the telecoms and financial services industries and related areas, including the activities of competitors.
- Pro-actively recommend effective courses of action so that either a stance may be adopted or potential risks may be averted by the company.
- Develops operational procedures and policies for tracking, maintaining and updating legal documentation and records.
- Develops risk management strategies from local and international rules and regulations and compliance undertakings contained in commercial agreements signed by the Group.
- Manage the compliance obligations and record-keeping in the contract management system (CMS).
- Identify room for improvement or 'loopholes' in the current mandates space and provide general legal advice.
- Benchmark current practices against the group risk management framework and adjust practices as and when necessary.
- Deal with litigation matters with the Litigation centre of expertise involving the business to manage legal risk and liaise with Ombudsman when necessary. Proactively resolves disputes to avoid litigation and ombudsman referrals.
- Implementation, benchmarking and improving of all business processes in the designated area of responsibility
- Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with relevant peers and stakeholders to achieve productivity synergies
- Lead specialist communities of practice and contribute positively to own and organisational knowledge improvement
- Build relationships that allow for the managing of expectations; the sharing of knowledge and diverse insights; and the creation of buy-in
- Engage in cross-functional relationships to obtain and to provide work support

**Qualifications**:

- Post graduate qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) Admitted Attorney

Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience in a similar environment, of which 2 - 3 years ideally at specialist legal advisor level
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in general corporate matters, including corporate organization, securities compliance, drafting of transactional documents, license agreements, risk management, data privacy, etc
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in registration and other resolutions specific to the business lines within the organization
