Product Manager - Johannesburg, Gauteng - Job ID 3902

Our client has a remarkable reputation for consistency and excellence in their service delivery on a multi-industry scale, both in South Africa and across the African continent, and they are looking to hire a Product Manager for Belting in their Fluid Technology division.

**Position details**:
Type: Permanent
Reports to: Reports to Business Unit Manager
Key internal relationships: Within the Company Branch managers and sales staff. Technical managers, key account managers and product managers. Internal product support functions.
Key external relationships: Director - strategic operational support Manager - product, technical, marketing and sales actual to plan Divisional Managers - support product across Divisional portfolios Regional and Branch Managers - branch support Technical Resources - engineering design and selection Manufacturing - project co-coordinators who manage system builds / repairs Outside the Company Service providers Suppliers, local and international Consultants Customers
Primary Purpose: To develop and grow the sales and market share of Company’s product offering covering products, by engaging with the Company branch network and customers. To offer product training to staff and customers, technical advice on new and existing installations, monitor the Product market, perform competitor analysis and identify new market and product opportunities.
Travel requirements: 20% Office Bound 80% Travel

Job description / core competencies:
Financial:
Meet sales targets against specific product price lists in accordance with divisional strategy and set budgets.

Stock management in accordance with company and divisional procedures.

Customers:
Maintain a regular calling schedule with Company branch representatives to customers.

Identify a set of key accounts to target and grow to an agreed budget.

Identify new customers.

Negotiate contract extensions and increase justifications.

Joint calling with Branch staff and customers

Follow up on open inquiries Suppliers:
Form and maintain relationships and regular communication with existing suppliers.

Source new suppliers and products in line with divisional strategy.

Supplier meetings and negotiations

Product support:
Customer surveys and troubleshooting undertaken on site.

Product failure analysis and failure report writing.

Product identification.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Investigate and respond to market demands

Competitor and market analysis. Customer needs assessment.

Regular communication of market needs to management.

Stock availability

Forecast - plan short term and long-term goals

Assisting in the monitoring of deliveries, handle queries, late deliveries

Monitor stock levels International purchasing of specialised stock on various divisional articles Pricing

Decide on price parameters and discount parameters

Ensure healthy margins by reviewing monthly

Review price surveys from product support and other sources to ensure on par with competitors

Maximise operations

Services are provided according to department plan A professional attitude is displayed when interacting with customers and team

Services are provided efficiently Customer/Supplier service Customer requirements awareness.

Customer satisfaction levels.

Facilitates team’s awareness of customer ratings.

Learning and growth Provide ongoing assessment and feedback of development.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Matric/Grade 12 Relevant technical qualification

Computer literacy essential Experience

Min 5 years background in Fluid Technology (Hydraulics) experience.

5 years sales experience will be an advantage.

Experience in supplier/customer negotiations.

Pricing, purchasing experience
