Senior Librarian: Branches

The incumbent will coordinate and manage a comprehensive academic library service for the Community Health Sciences faculty at a satellite campus located at Bellville Medical Campus. The role calls for dynamism and leadership to ensure that the branch library is a vital part of the academic and research activities of the faculty. An important component entails managing and developing branch staff to ensure quality services.

The incumbent fulfils the standard faculty librarian duties at an advanced level and contributes to the strategic and operational planning of UWC Library. The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

- Co-ordination and management of branch library services
- Branch staff management and development
- Liaison and collaboration with the faculty
- Research, reference and information services
- Learning and teaching: Information Literacy
- Collection development and maintenance
- Maintenance of the library environment
- Other duties as designated by the Directorate

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements (**Qualification and Experience)

B.Bibl Degree or equivalent qualification (A Postgraduate qualification would be advantageous)
Six (6) years’ relevant work experience in an academic environment

- Presentation and Training skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of academic librarianship
- Lifelong learning orientation
- Substantial knowledge of online research systems and tools, preferably in the clinical health sciences
