An exciting opportunity exists for an editor to join Sparks Electrical News, a leading monthly business-to-business magazine.
The magazine is published by Crown Publications, a well-established publisher of technical publications, based in Bedfordview.
The position requires a positive and gregarious person with a collaborative and inclusive approach to working within a team and with clients. It is suited to someone who is skilled in print and online publishing. If you are someone who loves pushing for innovation in publishing, and who constantly looks for new opportunities to grow the brand and its channels, then this might be the position for you.

**Responsibilities**:
Compile annual production schedules.
Manage timelines and deadlines.
Plan editorial content.
Write original copy and edit copy received directly.
Paginate the magazine in conjunction with the advertising manager.
Check all content - copy, images, graphics and design.
Check magazine proofs and sign-off for print.
Produce weekly e-newsletter.
Supply web editorial and share content on LinkedIn daily.
Keep abreast of the latest industry news and regulations and maintain regular client contact.

**Manage the magazine as a business unit**: editorial, sales, production and brand extensions.
Strive for innovative solutions and ensure that the quality of the magazine and digital content, its brand extensions, and the level of client service, are of a consistently high standard.

**Please note**:
This position is for a mid-senior editor - 5-10 years’ experience.
The applicant must provide relevant and contactable references.

**Personal skills/attributes of applicant**:
Focused and 100% able to work to deadlines.
Excellent written communication skills.
Comfortable interviewing clients to get a story.
Minimum of three years’ experience in business-to-business publishing.
Computer literate (non-negotiable).
Comfortable using LinkedIn.
The ability to nurture relationships with current clients while assisting the advertising manager to grow the client base.
Meticulously organised with a keen eye for detail.
Able to give instructions, feedback and encouragement to team members.
Must be willing and comfortable attending clients’ social functions.

**Advantageous**:
Knowledge of the electrical contracting industry.
Knowledge of the business-to-business publishing industry.
