To work within the specialised Data Centre and Engineering Team, giving best in service class and support on all engineering activities within the client’s data centre facility. Ensuring the Uptime is maintained, and the business is not exposed to risk either through BAU or projects works. To be able to have a good understanding of Data Centre equipment & to be a Team worker.

The Plant operator needs to be a skilled person who understands the environment of a Data Center along with the understanding of all Africa Data Centres procedures and training.

Understand the execution of EOP’s (Emergency Operating Procedures) and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)

**The incumbent will be required to work shifts**

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Grade 12
- N4
- Red seal Trade Test as an Electrician (optional in this position)
- Wireman’s License preferably (optional in this position)
- CDCP
- HIRA
- LV/MV Switching
- Legal Liability
- HVAC experience an advantage
- 3 Years in a data center environment
- Minimum 4 years’ experience of Mechanical &Electrical services.
- Must have previous experience & knowledge of Medium Voltage systems and understand the risks & dangers associated with this and high voltage equipment.
- Must have previous experience on at least two of the following disciplines, Generators, UPS units (Large), & or chillers cooling plant.
- Fully understand the critical nature & risks of working in a data center environment.

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Analytical & logical fault-finding
- Good Mechanical & Electrical fault-finding skills
- Understanding & interpreting of wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
- Understanding of systems flow diagrams.
- Good understanding of emergency standby power equipment operations.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills
- Good numerical skills
- Be able to understand & complete inspection check lists & other required daily weekly & monthly reports to the Technical Manager on the required basis.
- Maintain the data center space, office area, workshops & all plant rooms in a tidy and presentable manner at all times.
- Good skills with relationship building.
- Experienced at detail report writing.
- Have good skills with supervision of service providers/contractors.
- Fully understand the critical Business environment of the Data Centre.
- Have experience to work with & empower Plant Operators.
