Mechanical Technician

A position have arisen in a plastic recycling company in the Electrical and Maintenance division for a **Mechanical Technician** on a full time basis. The company is based in Alberton and is seeking a dynamic individual with relevant experience in recycling of plastic waste, Extruder Machinery, Injection Molding and related operations.

The purpose of the job is to;
- Maintenance of Extruders Machinery
- Setting machinery parameters.
- Perform machine setups to approved processing parameters
- Troubleshoot and solve daily production and technical processing issues
- Ensure that products manufactured meet or exceed all quality requirements.
- Perform and complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Help monitor and maintain a spare parts inventory.
- Help to maintain and enforce a clean environment.
- Maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment, providing preventative and cost-efficient repairs.
- Thoroughness in inspecting and maintaining equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Maintenance technicians should be able to adapt to changing situations and be flexible in their work schedules.
- Some activities may require physical strength and stamina, as the work may involve lifting heavy objects, climbing, or other physical activities.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment relevant to the specific industry.

Required outputs: Duties
- To work for the company to assist management in the maintenance of plastic extruder machinery
- Managing daily production and technical processing issues
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plastic manufacturing equipment, including extruders, injection molding machines, and blow molding machines
- Inspecting and maintaining equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Help monitor and maintain a spare parts inventory
- Monitoring quality of plastic sorting at the plant.
- Monitoring the quality of finished good plastic pellets (LDPE).
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment as needed _(wiring of heater electrical board & knowledge of induction heating & heating elements)._
- Attending meetings with management providing status updates of the maintenance. implementation.
- Designing the internal control and work plan for repairs and maintenance.

General:

- Experience in the plastic recycling and extruder machines.
- The individual should possess strong mechanical and electrical experience
- Knowledge of LDPE, HDPE, PPPE Plastic equipment.
- Experience working with plastic extruder machines.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a plastics manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
- Proven track record experience in recycling/plastic industry.
- Any relevant qualification
