Howden - Lead Planner

The Big Picture:
Howden Power, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Lead planner to do planning and tracking of projects on various customers’ sites and support to planners

What needs to be done?
- Initialise assignments, interpret scopes and clarify issues. Design bar charts to meet specifications and approval of all parties concerned.
- Tracking of progress
- Conduct visual progress inspections to verify progress as reported by site staff, discuss with site staff problems, potential problems, risks, trends and plan around obstacles.
- Accordingly update bar charts. Discuss changes, progress and obstacles with clients and contractors. Update, inform, and give feedback. Escalate issues where applicable.
- Accordingly update Gantt charts to keep all informed of their obligations, urgencies, major incidents, obstacles and progress and attend to site meetings with customer.
- Analyses Progress, obstacles, changes, risks and trends to the effect that corrective action can be made pro-actively where applicable and provide feedback to management.
- On request, arrange and plan alignment and balancing assignments. Liaise with own staff and contractors, schedule work, assignment administration and record keeping.
- At all times adhere to procedures, instructions, quality, safety standards and certification requirements
- Write exception reports on projects
- Lead, guide and support planners in your team
- SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls

What do you need to bring?
- Grade 12.
- Planning Diploma or a Technical qualification.
- 5-10 years’ experience as a Lead Planner
- Proficiency in MS Project & Primavera P6.
- Technical project planning and problem-solving experience.
- Supervisory experience
- Attention to detail
- Clear communicator (Oral and Written).
- Good interpersonal skills
- Adapting to situational demands, adapts quickly to change
- Computer Literacy in MS Word and Excel
- Driver’s Licence code 8
