Hvac Technician

**Position Description**

Operate, maintain and repair all equipment used for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. This includes operations central chilled water plant, DX systems, VRF systems ,cold rooms and freezer rooms and splits units.

**Key Performance Requirements**
- Reporting :Conformance to maintenance schedules, general plant conditions, plant upgrade recommendations, financial reporting and inventory management
- Installation Quality :Ensure all installations are done as per drawings
- Fault finding: Be able to solve technical problems onsite and Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to increase longevity diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems
- Repair damaged HVAC systems
- Emergency call outs
- Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
- Project Coordination and Reports
- Is responsive to client queries, needs and challenges and keeps client informed of progress on project progress
- Drafting and issuing of weekly progress reports
- Safety: Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Inventory list :Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources
- Subcontractor Management :Ensure subcontractor work is done to prescribed standards OTIF
- SLA Compliance :Meet client SLA requirements
- Job Card Management : On-time job costing, job closure and invoicing
- Customer Satisfaction :Meet and Exceed Customer Expectations

**Key Capability Requirements**
- Formal education_
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering diploma/degree ((pre-requesit)
- Air Conditioning and Refrigeration certificates, Safe Handling of Refrigerants certificate, Project Management certificates (advantageous)
- HVAC & R trade test (pre-requesit)
- Knowledge_
- Central Airconditioning Systems, electrical and mechanical knowledge related to air conditioning and refrigeration
- Technical competency and professional skills_
- HVAC, Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
- Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
- Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
- Experienced in maintaining VRF systems, roof top units and chilled water systems
- Maintain and repair all HVAC equipment and components to manufactures recommendation, i.e., valves, motors, belts, bearings, filters, and lubrication etc
- Report writing
- Years of Experience_
- Minimum 5+ years HVAC& R technician inclusive of commissioning and testing HVAC& R systems
- Minimum 2+ years electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair

OSHA Medical Examination
- **Other Requirements**_
- Afterhours call-out duty and overtime work maybe required for this position
- Role will be client-based and may require travel nationally and weekly stay overs.
- Good physical health is required. The appointee will be required to undergo OHSA Medical Examinations to be allowed to access to various client sites
- No criminal record
- Valid South African Driver’s Licence and driving ability

- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
