**Job Description** JOB PURPOSE**:
The ISA CoE objective is to ensure that Infrastructure South Africa becomes the leading and “go-to” authority on Infrastructure Research, Information, Long-term Planning and Guidance in South Africa and Africa. Development Economist will play a leading role in conducting economic evaluations and statistical analysis to ensure this mandate of the ISA CoE is achieved.

**Qualification and Experience** QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Development Economics or other relevant qualification. Preference will be given to post graduate qualifications.

**WORK EXPERIENCE**:

- 5 years working experience as an economist or econometrician or development economist or similar role.

**Roles and Responsibilities** MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Collect, compile and analyse data from various databases and perform economic analyses
- Economic development studies
- Perform data quality and validation checks
- Conduct economic analysis of infrastructure projects
- Analysis of economy of country, provinces and cities
- Perform cost benefit analysis of infrastructure projects
- Perform statistical programming utilizing a variety of statistical software packages to summarize data and create reports and/or visual presentations
- Help to develop and analyse infrastructure indices
- Maintaining and updating a repository of all the data
- Conducting Ex Post Evaluation of projects
- Conducting benefit realisation assessment reports
- Contribute to infrastructure research reports

**Job Requirements** COMPETENCIES**:

- Economic development studies and analysis.
- Strong economic analysis capabilities including cost benefit analysis.
- Strong technical capabilities, including the ability to gather, coordinate, analyse, and disseminate large quantities of data with precision and care.
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets.
- Exposure to economic/econometric models such as EViews, input-output modelling etc.
- Economic evaluation of infrastructure projects.
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
