**Farm Foreman - Livestock Focus**
Third Age Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced **Farm Foreman** specializing in animal farming and livestock management to join our team. The Farm Foreman will oversee the efficient running of all livestock operations and assist in ensuring the farm meets production goals while adhering to the highest standards of animal welfare and sustainability.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Animal Care and Management**:
- Oversee daily care, feeding, health, and welfare of livestock, with a focus on cattle.
- Monitor livestock health, identifying signs of illness or distress, and coordinating veterinary care when needed.
- Manage breeding programs and maintain accurate records of livestock.
**Labour Management**:
- Supervise, train, and manage farm staff in accordance with labor laws and company policies.
- Ensure tasks are assigned efficiently and completed to standard, including weekend and late-hour operations when scheduled.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
**Infrastructure and Equipment**:
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm infrastructure, including barns, feeding equipment, fences, and water systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and coordinate necessary repairs or upgrades to buildings and equipment.
- Monitor and manage inventory of feed, veterinary supplies, and other livestock-related materials.
**Reporting and Compliance**:
- Maintain accurate records of livestock, including health treatments, breeding, and feed usage.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to operational planning.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards relating to livestock farming.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in livestock farming, particularly cattle.
- Knowledge of animal health, nutrition, and breeding practices.
- Proven ability to manage farm operations, including labor, equipment, and budgets.
- Familiarity with tractor and farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Valid Driver’s License (Code 10 and PDP preferred); motorbike license is advantageous.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Bloemfontein, Free State: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
