Department of Educational Psychology: Lecturer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:

- Facilitating hybrid teaching and learning in undergraduate and postgraduate modules,
- Developing and co-ordinating modules and programmes;
- Providing postgraduate supervision to students;
- Being involved and participating towards the achievement of the Department’s key performance indicators.
- Conduct research in the focus areas of the department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
**Lecturer**
- Completed MEd in: Educational Psychology OR related Psychology Degree OR Learning support Guidance and Counselling;
- Evidence and experience in teaching modules either at undergraduate or postgraduate level in the field of educational psychology / psychology;
- At least one accredited research output;
- Academic administration experience
- Community engagement experience
- Psychologists to indicate registration with HPCSA in the relevant category

**Senior Lecturer**:

- A Doctorate in Educational Psychology / related Psychology fields/ Learning Support Guidance and Counselling;
- At least three years’ experience in tertiary education;
- Evidence of at least five publications in accredited journals;
- Evidence of successful Masters or Doctoral supervision;
- Conference papers delivered;
- Community engagement in a related field;
- Academic Administration;
- Participation in departmental committees.
- Experience as coordinator/tutor/academic supporter for Distance education modules offered by a higher education institution.
- Psychologists to indicate registration with HPCSA in the relevant category

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Ability to engage in teaching and learning at a higher education level;
- Proven administrative and organisational abilities;
- Ability to engage in teaching and learning at a higher education level;
- Ability to engage in teaching and learning at a higher education level;
- Collaboration and networking skills;
- Computer literacy;
- Report writing skills.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students’ research;
- Intention to enrol for postgraduate (i.e. PhD) studies (if without PhD) in the field of e.g. visual impairment, inclusive education, disability studies, or learning support;
- Current and recent experience in programme and module development and co-ordination;
- Participation in funded research projects;
- Publication record.
- Psychologists to indicate registration with HPCSA in the relevant category

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
