**Overview**

The purpose of this role is to design methods to store, analyse, utilize, and organize data To create computer databases based on user needs Migrate data from old systems to new system. To effectively managing multiple database environments

**Responsibilities**:

- Set up and document operational procedures (maintenance, user administration, server standards etc.) Monitor and enforce the usage of the procedures
- Implements departmental and industry best-practices security standards
- Mitigate the risk to ensure mínimal downtime and system availability by ensuring best support practices are in place to ensure proper recovery as defined by the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
- Monitor the PostgreSQL and MS SQL environment, provide capacity trends and highlight performance bottlenecks
- Provide after-hour standby and support
- Data migration and integration
- SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and SQL development
- The SQL Software Engineer will help design, implement and support the organizations transactional and dimensional Data Warehouse development efforts, providing guidance and direction to clients and project team members
- Leverage knowledge of current data warehouse and software development methodologies to contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines
- Build and maintain PostgreSQL packages
- Build and maintain MS SQL SSIS packages
- Implement and manage MS SQL Server databases
- Implement and manage PostgreSQL databases
- Logical and physical data modeling (Transactional and Dimensional)
- Develop and maintain vendor extract / import process
- Identify logical issues between database models and reports
- Follow change management procedures
- Experience in implementing operational automation
- SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
- Create ways to store, organize, and present data
- Perform complex technical, analytical and professional services involving program/member services, evaluation, database-driven Web sites, office operations
- Administer a variety of database systems including Microsoft SQL Server, Filemaker Pro, and others
- Integrate old systems data with new system
- Test and coordinate modifications
- Audit, modify, and amend data in systems using SQL commands, hand-editing, and bulk import
- Troubleshoot and correct issues as they arise
- Ensure system is running smoothly
- Add new users to the system as needed
- Plan and coordinate security measures alongside network administrators
- Enhance or build database designs
- Develop, implement measures and execute maintenance plans to maximize availability, performance, and reliability of databases
- Develop, implement and execute a backup / disaster recovery plan for all databases via various technologies (log shipping, database mirroring, SAN replication, etc.)
- Performs strategic database planning as appropriate
- Review, plan, test, and implement database upgrades while adhering to all change management policies and procedures
- Work in conjunction with program owners in the review, planning, testing, and implementation of program upgrades dependent on database technology
- Advise, educate and make recommendations to system analysts and other staff on administration policies and procedures and technical methods
- Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity and performance problems
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems with production systems; escalates issues, facilitates resolution

**Must have**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Equivalent
- ITIL Foundation
- SQL Server 2008/2012/2014
- PostgreSQL certification required
- Database Security
- DB Reporting and monitoring

**Competencies**:

- Is adept in the use of the latest MS Office package, particularly Excel, Word and Power-point
- Strong Knowledge in Microsoft SQL versions 2005, 2008, 2012 and 2014
- Strong knowledge in PostgreSQL
- SQL server upgrade (2005 >2008, 2008 >2012, 2012 >2014)
- SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, IIS experience
- Knowledge in SQL Server Clustered environment
- Knowledge of SQL scripting, preferred
- VMWare experience, a plus
