Half Day (8am - 1pm) position - 4 days a week at R15 000 gross per month

The last few years has seen this organisation grow significantly both in programme commitments but also in reach and team. With this growth the organisation's leadership team and board have identified the need to employ a Qualified Bookkeeper.

This position is suited to an individual with several years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably within the non-profit sector in South Africa. The position requires a self-motivated and systems orientated financial professional who can co-ordinate the financial processes of this organisation.

Abilities and Characteristics:

- Education: Relevant Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping.
- Work experience: Several years’ experience in finance or accounting.
- Hard skills: Strong understanding of financial principles and techniques.
- Soft skills: Sound interpersonal skills.
- Technology Knowledge: Proficiency in using appropriate financial tools, such as spreadsheet software and accounting software.
- Industry acumen: Sound knowledge in NPO or Trust specific regulations, such as financial reporting standards, tax laws, and banking regulations.

Key responsibilities:

- Bookkeeping: Process the day-to-day operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger.
- Budgeting: Assist in the developing and managing the organisation’s overall and programme budgets and monitor performance against budget targets through variance analysis.
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Assist in developing and implementing financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support the organisation’s strategic goals. Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, financial reports, and presentations to stakeholders, including management, trustees, and external parties.
- Financial Management Systems and Processes: Evaluate and improve the organisation’s finance management systems and processes, including the use of financial software and financial analysis tools.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws, including SARS (UIF, PAYE VAT and income tax), banking regulations and annual external audit.
