10t Forklift Driver

**BACKGROUND**

Youngman Roofing, a leading supplier of high-quality roofing and insulation products, is looking for a suitably experienced individual to join the Group as 10T Forklift Driver, based in Milnerton, Cape Town. The individual will be responsible for loading and off-loading of metal coils.

**KEY RESPONSIBILTIES**
- Responsible for the efficient operation of the forklift vehicle. Primarily responsible for offloading containers and coils (60/40 split). You are required to follow the instructions of the checker as to where products should be moved to. The checker deals with the documentation and does all the necessary checks.
- To adhere to all the safety procedures related to forklift and to ensure that the routine safety check of the forklift is done daily prior to using the forklift.
- To deliver the product to the correct designated areas throughout the day
- To off-load supplier vehicles as and when required.
- To load products onto a truck for delivery safely and effectively with no damage to the forklift, product, or truck.
- To liaise constantly with production supervisors, loaders, and operators
- To adhere to all the operational requirements of a forklift such as capacity loaded, permissible items and securing method and mechanisms.
- Work areas and Loading areas must be left in a neat condition after loading. A clean as you go approach must be adopted.
- You will be required to assist in the flashing department when not performing forklift duties.
- Assist with stock take.

**Health and Safety**
- To operate the forklift only if it is safe to do so.
- To report all mechanical problems with the forklift to management as soon as you are aware of any problems.
- To ensure that the forklift is always kept neat and tidy.
- The physical conditions in the work area are continuously assessed and hazards are reported to management.
- Ensure the safest and most efficient transfer of product from the production area to the cold store area.
- You are to always comply to all health and safety regulations regarding machinery.
- You are required to report any deviation from health and safety standards, or any relevant uncertainties you may have, to your supervisor as Health and Safety is the responsibility of all persons in the business.

**SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid 10T forklift license with 3 years experience.
- Rigging experience will be highly advantageous.
- Good numerical skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
- Problem solving skills.
- Time management skills
- Decision making skills Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
- Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Organised and methodical

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (preferred)

License/Certification:

- 10T Forklift License (required)
