**ROLE**: Senior (Lead) Architect

**LOCATION**: Rickmansworth, United Kingdom

**REPORTING TO**: Architectural Section Head

A turnkey property development concern based in the United Kingdom, has an opportunity for a Qualified Architect with relevant experience in industrial, commercial, and public buildings to join their operation.

BASIC FUNCTION AND OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The types of projects will typically include site and facility masterplanning, research, analytical, QA/QC laboratories or pharmaceutical manufacturing, GMP/cleanroom and Life Sciences facilities.

The role is to provide architectural expertise and support to the Business in two main areas as follows:

- Supporting the Business Development team by attending client meeting, contributing to proposals, and developing feasibility, concept and preliminary design proposals.
- Providing support at the Detailed Design stage by providing design continuity and technical leadership.

ROLE SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Principal responsibilities are scheduled below in no specific order as this may change depending on workload.

**1. Design Studies**

Receive brief from Project Lead or Director as appropriate in via Architectural Section Head. Meet project obligations including but not limited to:
- Undertake Lead Architect role
- Attend project meetings
- Attend Client meetings and briefings
- Develop the project brief
- Liaise with other disciplinaries to develop a coordinated design
- Contributing to Step 1 reports including technical communications and design drawings
- Produce design and technical documentation including drawings, schedules and specifications as agreed for procurement and construction
- Meet the requirements of design programme, project quality plan, contract plan and other Company project requirements
- Undertake site visits and inspection
- Establish and take responsibility for meeting project requirements as defined in the kick off meeting minutes and other documentation
- Liaising with other departments and disciplines as necessary
- Receive brief from the Project Lead / Architectural Section Head
- Produce deliverables schedules

**2. Coordination of Design**

Coordination between the design disciplines is of vital importance to all projects. It is important that the interaction between the disciplines is meaningful and issues are dealt with promptly.

**3. Sales Support**

Assist the Business Development Managers & Directors in securing future work for the Company.

**4. Advanced Initiatives**

Undertake tasks as identified relating to design performance across the multi-disciplinary design team. Such tasks will include initiatives to improve promoting interdisciplinary self-checking, promoting Design Best Practices and others depending on the Company’s requirements in order to improve the service it provides not only to clients but also in
- house between departments.

**5. Additional Activities**

The role will be varied and the incumbent will often be involved in activities within the office which may evolve. This will require the incumbent to have a flexible approach due to the diversity of activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Develop architectural scheme.
- Co-ordinate the study to meet client expectations to avoid conflicts, interference and abortive time and costs.
- Control man-hours expended against budget.
- Ensure critical dates for completion and delivery of the study are met.
- Comply fully with Company Quality Assurance procedures.
- Comply fully with Company CDM procedures.
- Any other duties deemed necessary or appropriate by the management team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

- Degree in Architecture
- Commercial Architectural experience essential i.e. laboratories, plants etc.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience
- Excellent leadership skills - will be required to run a team of approximately 5-6

Architects after 2+ years of being employed (definite progression within the

business)
- Well-articulated, excellent communicator, comfortable liaising with clients
- Professional, self-motivated, ‘out of the box’ thinking style, hard working with

plenty of initiative and drive to ‘get the job done, whatever it takes'.
