**What you will do**:
The Data Architect will define how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed to meet the strategic business requirements. Responsibilities include data modelling, database architecture, metadata definition, repository creation, data growth and integration management as well as governance and risk management.

**Core responsibilities include**:

- Develops and implements a Data Architecture and management plan for the organisation ensuring alignment to and executed in accordance with Data Strategies
- Manages all aspects of the data sourcing, migration, modelling, and implementation and identifies new initiatives and/or recommendations for database growth and integration.
- Provides Data framework/policies, governance, and roadmap to attain the enterprise/organisation data vision in alignment with Group policies and POPIA
- Identify interconnected problems, determine impact, patterns, and trends, and identify best-fit alternatives to design and implement best practice solutions
- Facilitates and documents the agreements on appropriate corporate data and its usage (including master data management).
- Identifies and promotes best practices for data modelling within information areas across the organization, providing oversight for all activities related to data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation using industry-standard data modelling methods and processes.
- Displays demonstrated ability in communicating the overall data architecture to both technical and business constituencies.
- Develops guidelines and best practices to ensure data standardization and consistency.
- Interact with systems analysts, architects, developers, and development managers to understand source structures and information
- Documenting of technical specifications
- Perform thorough testing of outputs using SQL
- Provide input on source system change impact on not just BI and reporting but also general business impact
- Co-ordinate quality assurance and user acceptance testing (Unit and UAT)
- Implementation of a Data Warehouse from the ground up.

**Qualification & Experience**:

- Completed BCOM Informatics / BSC Computer Science or equivalent data qualification
- Must come from mining industry 8-10 years experience in a Business Intelligence environment
- 5-10 years experience in Data Architecture in a corporate environment
- DMBOK certified will be advantageous
- Business Intelligence certifications will be an added advantage
- Experience in modelling (Conceptual, logical, and physical)
- A good grasp of the SDLC process with an understanding of CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Deployment) would be an advantage.
- Implementation of knowledge of Cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Must have Agile experience
- Experience creating data model POCs using documented test cases and actual data samples.
- Demonstrable experience leading data governance teams/efforts.
- Advanced knowledge of standard data modelling tools
- Advanced knowledge of database concepts, e.g., SQL databases and database querying languages, and NoSQL databases
