Conduct a technical risk analysis of the current fleet, identifying current status, repairs to be affected, time period for implementation and maintenance plan.

Conducting daily inspections and preventive maintenance measures.

Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.

Record keeping of all work undertaken.

Identifying and attending to all mechanical and pneumatic repairs of the vehicles, including tanker fittings, valves and buttons.

Identifying and attending to all technical aspects of the vehicles, including the maintenance and pressure tests, where necessary.

Correct vehicle defects by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.

Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

Follow operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing.

Repairing trucks and tankers according to loading and off-loading points, and the quantity of products stored.

Dropping off vehicles at the respective service providers for repairs and/or service.

Allocating tasks to the junior mechanics, signing their job cars and ensuring the work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner in compliance with allocated time frames and professionally.

Overseeing the tasks and work of the junior mechanics.

Provide the necessary training and skill transfer to the junior mechanics.

Attending to the ordering, follow up and receipts of parts and spares, as and when required.

Ensuring the correct quantity and quality of parts are delivered and used by the Workshop staff.

Implement checklists where necessary to ensure efficiency and monitor and manage the completion of checklists and the turn-around time for action.

Implement and conduct routine and regular inspections of all vehicles.

Ensure all vehicles are running at optimal levels and all equipment on vehicles are maintained and functioning.

Promptly attend to the repair and/or service of any malfunction of equipment and/or report same to the relevant service provider.

Attend to the service of all trucks and trailers, where such vehicles are not under warranty.

Co-ordinate all services of trailers, and trucks, where necessary.

Ensure proper record keeping and documentation of all services of vehicles, and repairs effected.

Assembling and dissembling trailers, as and when required.

Attend to and Coordination of breakdowns during and after hours.

Ensuring and monitoring that all warranty claims for parts or work done are attended by service providers.

Calibration of all equipment.

Ordering of spares and following up on delivery thereof.

Order parts required and received, and check parts delivered.

Liaise with external repair and parts centres to establish progress.

Instructing and monitoring service providers in so far as repairs, maintenance and services are related.

Ensuring correct parts are fitted and repaired and work in being executed and at the standard acceptable to the Company.

Providing telephonic technical breakdown assistance to the drivers.

Providing Drivers with the necessary training on how to use the pumps to off-load the tanker.

Attending to and obtaining Dekra SLP, by attending to the brake test requirements of tankers and trailers, inspecting the truck and tanker and ensuring compliance with Total South Africa specification, and attending to light modifications on tankers.

Troubling shooting of Tanker problems in Depot and en route.

Experience in BARTECH Tankers

Maintain a sound working relationship with all departments.

Communicate with internal departments and respond to enquiries.

Action any other reasonable request from the Operations Manager and assist the workshop and logistics team as applicable.

undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of your job requirements.

Assist with materials purchasing and quality checks.

Ensure correct job numbers are used and that time records are correct.

Provide oversight and check job estimates.

Regularly report progress on each job and quickly communicate delays or concerns with the Managers.

Report on manpower shortfalls.

Act as a technical adviser on key projects and other areas of the business as requested.
