**The IIE Varsity College, Pietermaritzburg Campus has a vacancy for a Lecturer: Journalism (Independent Contractor) within the School of Humanities and Social Science for following stream**:

- Journalism 1 : JRNS6221
- Journalism 2: JRNS7321

**Competencies Required**:

- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent Presentation Skills
- Assertiveness and dynamism
- Understanding of customer service in education
- Demonstrate an ability to manage work and self proactively

**Minimum Education Requirements**:

- Honours in Journalism

**Alternatively**:

- Honours in one of the Humanities fields with Journalism as a major;
- BJourn 4-year degree in Journalism (NQF level 8).

**Minimum Work Experience Requirements**:

- Lecturing experience in Journalism required
- Experience as a practising journalist writing for the online/print media is strongly recommended
- Ideally, lecturing experience at tertiary level
- Previous lecturing experience within tertiary environment is advantageous
- Current industry knowledge is essential
