Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Officer, you will fulfill all the necessary requirements with regards to the following, to support the EHS management system by ensuring compliance to all statutory requirements and company standards; performing risk assessments; facilitating safety meetings and providing internal EHS training. Promoting Environmental, Health and Safety awareness, support waste management and reduction initiatives; and supporting management with maintaining compliance.

**KEY JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Develop, implement and monitor company Environmental Health and Safety to ensure compliance in terms of statutory requirements, standards and company policies.
- Support the Company’s Environmental Management program, with ongoing monitoring and reporting aligned to international best practice.
- Involvement in all waste awareness, carbon footprint, sustainability and green initiatives/campaigns across the company.
- Schedule and perform EHS induction training.
- Conduct task-based and Baseline Risk Assessments and assist with identifying mitigation measures.
- Conduct both internal incident and environmental investigations.
- Perform internal monthly legal compliance audits aligned to the EHS Management system.
- Enforce safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety and environmental policies, guidelines and procedures as stipulated in company documents.
- Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property comply with company policies and safety and environmental requirements
- Provide daily guidance and direction in terms of EHS programs at the employee and supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
- Ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols through means of compliance audits.
- Involvement in adhoc projects, when necessary, to support the overall objectives and goals of the business.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum Qualification**: Diploma (NQF level 6) in Safety Management (NADSAM) or Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Management or any other relevant qualification.
- Ideal Qualifications**: B. Tech (NQF level 7) in Environmental Health.
- Experience**: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field.
- Auditing, NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, Legal Knowledge Certificate
- It would be beneficial if experience has been gained within a manufacturing and/or chemical industry.
