Driver Trainer

**Location**:Durban

**Key Purpose**:
The incumbent will monitor and improve the driving performance of drivers by means of in-cab coaching and analysis of driving records.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**:

- Facilitate pre-employment assessment of BVO’s.
- Facilitate training and assessment of learners after training as well as remedial training.
- Conduction on-the-job observation and incab assessment
- Continuous need analysis and closing of identified skills gaps.
- Facilitating over-the-shoulder training of new driver by experienced Senior Driver
- Accurate capturing of training records
- Maintenance of filling system
- Conduct Route Risk Assessments
- Conduct toolbox talks on incidents specifics to promote and ensure compliance to legislation, company policies and procedures.
- Monitoring of Tachographs, recording of scores and where appropriate reporting tachos to manager which require further investigation.
- Perform other duties as may be required from time to time.

**Qualifications / Knowledge**:

- Matric
- Relevant Driver’s license
- Valid PrDP
- Medical Fit
- Registered assessor
- Minimum 5 years driving experience.
- No criminal record
- Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
- Knowledge of road Traffic Act pertaining to the operating a vehicle
- The effect that weather/road/traffic conditions have on a vehicle’s performance, as well as driver actions.
- Procedures and reporting for emergencies.
- Application of fire extinguisher fitted on vehicle.
- Operational rationale for vehicle inspections
- Defect reporting procedure.
- Measures to minimize risk of hi-jacking.
- Measures to maximize cost-effectiveness and efficient operation of vehicle.
- Effects of medical condition on driving performance.
- Loading techniques
- Load securing techniques.
