Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:

- Participation in ESMOE training, Obstetric drills and CPD programs
- Effective risk management of the unit by complying with Health, Safety &Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimise the identified risks in maternity
- Supervision role for subordinates with specific nursing care of the mother and baby
- Professional ethical practice
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessment and implement care duties allocated by the Unit Manager
- Participating in all safety, Health, Environment, Infection Control and Quality standards
- Ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction according to the units Healthcare Policies & Procedures.
- Maintain sound professional relationships with all patients, doctors and other members of the multi
- disciplinary team.
- Ensures effective record keeping of patient notes and registers that meet legal requirements
- Identify training needs and initiate facilitation.

Job Requirements:

- Matric grade 12
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing/midwifery
- Registered at SANC as a Registered Nurse and midwife
- Professional indemnity cover
- Nursing experience in Maternity Ward (Labour, Post-natal and Nursery).
- Theatre experience an advantage
- scrubbing, flooring, recovery and anaesthetic.

- Verbal & written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to make accurate decisions
- Attention to detail
- Good planning and organising and time management skills
- Strong customer orientation
- Must be willing to fulfil the role of midwife in the Unit, according to the flexi hour system (day and night duty), standby hours, according to the needs of the Unit
