About the Role:
The Junior Buyer is responsible for the administrative process of the procurement of goods and services, from order placement to fulfilment ensuring that the orders meet the scheduled timelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or review purchase requisitions/ orders as required
- Source price quotations and prepare purchase requisitions / orders
- Process purchase requisitions/ orders within purchasing authority (Local and International)
- Match purchase requisitions/ orders with shipment
- Verify billed amount with goods received and forward invoices to accounts for payment processing
- Expedite and follow up with suppliers to schedule deliveries, resolve material, value discrepancy, and outstanding and overdue delivery of orders, warranty claims, repairs and damage, and return of materials
- Daily follow up with Suppliers on outstanding orders
- Check all costs from Suppliers/ Clearing Agent/ Road, Air and Sea freight
- Process local receipts/ debit notes/ international receipts
- Administration, filing etc
- Arrange deliveries via Courier/ Air/ Sea
- Follow up on shipments - Courier/ Air/ Sea
- Handle queries
- Ensure local Suppliers have BEE certificates
- Maintaining good relationships with Suppliers and Clients
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Required:
- Matric/NQF4 equivalent certificate
- Relevant Logistics/Supply Chain certificate/diploma advantageous
- Minimum of 1-3 yrs experience in procurement/logistics within a warehousing environment
- Experience in Windows-based ERP system
Key personal attributes:
- Computer literacy - highly Computer literate and comfortable with basic technical aspects of common operating systems with Microsoft Office general excellence
- Competent Professional business written and verbal communications skills. The ability to express yourself clearly and effectively within the company.
- An ability to provide excellent customer service - Service focus by responding to internal customers’ needs by doing it right the first time.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Disciplined Approach by being Punctual, Strong Attendance Record, getting back to customers, suppliers, and internal staff, and returning calls.
- Attention to detail while maintaining the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture
- An ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests
- A creative outlook with a problem-solving attitude.
