Technical Manager: Electronic Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:
To assist the Senior Technical Manager in carrying out maintenance responsibilities by attending to technical problems and other related issues in the allocated area of responsibility in accordance with the UP standard and the Client’s specific needs while ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations. To enable the Senior Technical Manager to achieve the objectives he/she would need to attend to the following:

- Ensure equipment design are in line with the established standards and specification;
- Assist the Senior Technical Manager in identifying equipment/designs that are non-compliant/compliant with statutory requirements;
- To perform effective maintenance planning and execution according to the business requirements as set out in the maintenance contracts;
- To provide guidance to the Workshop Manager/Maintenance Contractors and ensure breakdown maintenance is effectively managed;
- To manage the maintenance budget to ensure that the required work is done with the available funds.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering plus 4 years Maintenance and Operational experience after obtaining the qualification
- A valid driver’s license
- Relevant experience in all of the following:

- Access control
- CCTV system
- Fire detection
- Intruder alarms

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Communication skills (written and spoken) at all levels;
- Analytical Thinking
- Negotiating skills;
- Physically able to visit certain sites and buildings (where great heights and
- difficult access are involved);
- both technical and organisational contexts;
- Administrative skills to ensure that all records are kept in orderly fashion, to ensure easy access;
- Organising skills to organise (people and work) in a logical manner in order to reach set objectives;
- The ability to identify and solve high priority problems in crisis situation;
- Accounting and budget control skills;
- Computer literacy - Skilled in MS Office and especially in Excel.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Seven years relevant experience in operating and maintaining electronic services.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
