**Primary Purpose of Job**:
The incumbent will be responsible for mining drilling operations and related activities to ensure optimum utilization of equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Grade 12 or N3 with Maths and Science
- Artisanship (preferably fitter)
- At least 1 year drilling experience
- Completed Company Internal Training (driller)

Financial & Maintenance Effectiveness:

- Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures
- install all types of trade related equipment required for the safe operation of the drilling process
- Identifies spares requirements and confirms the availability of consumables with supervisor Complete reports according to departmental procedure
- Carries out repairs, corrective and preventative maintenance work on equipment to comply with product technical specification and maintenance requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties
- Pulling and running of drill string
- Train, guides, informs and generally counsels in matters of technical knowledge and trade skills, any learner allocated to his team for training purposes
- Optimizes the movement of the drilling string at all times, ensuring maximum production by monitoring geological and heavy weather conditions.
- Monitors the progress of the ore extraction and adjusts the drilling parameters to suit seabed conditions by controlling all parameters including bit pressures, rotation spreads, compressed air and compensation cushion flow.
- Effective pulling and running of the drill string by calculating string lengths and optimal discharge heads. Records drill pipe hours to ensure maximum life
