-The main purpose of this position is to provide leadership and strategic direction to the International Economic Relations and Policy Department (IERPD) in liaison with, and support of, the Executive Management of the South African Reserve Bank (the Bank).
-Detailed Description

Provide leadership and strategic direction to the IERPD in order to maximise the Bank’s participation and profile in international forums and meetings
- Monitor and analyse developments in international and regional institutions and forums (such as the G20, BRICS, International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the Committee of Central Bank Governors (CCBG) and the Common Monetary Area (CMA)).
- Liaise and collaborate with various departments in the Bank, the National Treasury and other relevant entities concerned, to contribute to the development of policy positions and strategies, and to influencing the international economic, financial and regulatory agenda to the benefit of South Africa and the region.
- Lead and draft papers/discussions notes on relevant global economic issue that informs the SARB’s thinking and positions at various international forums.
- Provide quality control on speaking and briefing notes and speeches specifically for Governors.
- Represent the Bank at international meetings and forums, and develop and manage international co-operation and partnerships on behalf of the Bank.
- Manages and maintains relationships with the Bank’s internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop strategies, policies, plans and objectives for the IERPD, and direct their successful implementation.
- Oversees and provide support in managing projects, including seminars, conferences and workshops.
- Manages resources, budgets and assets in the IERPD effectively and efficiently.
- Manages compliance and risk for the department as required, to ensure that departmental risks are identified, assessed and mitigated
- Provide effective leadership and management of the IERPD staff, manage the performance of direct reports, create a strong performance culture,, promote and support career management and development,, and create a conducive work environment aligned to the values of the Bank.
Job Requirements

a minimum of a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance and related fields or equivalent qualification;
- 10 to 15 years’ experience in economic policy and research environments, with a minimum of 5 years at senior management level; and
- sound knowledge of research into economics and finance, policy development and formulation, international financial institutions, project management, and general management.
