**Purpose**

To provide high-level mechanical and electrical development and technical support for effective maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment.

**Main Responsibilities (not limited to)**:

- Provide high-level technical support for effective corrective and preventative maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment.
- Develop an effective fault-finding programme.
- Develop, review and update preventive/corrective maintenance programme.
- Design, install and test new mechanical and electrical systems, including modifications where necessary.
- Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effect Analyses (FMECA) activities and implement sustainable engineering solutions in order to improve availability and reliability of plant and equipment.
- Maintain, interrogate and improve programmable logic controllers (PLC) software and hardware configuration.
- Scope and compile technical specifications and manage internal and external (contractors) resources for departmental projects.
- Maintain and provide input in the compilation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI) for complex technical tasks.
- Develop safe work procedures (SWP) and report any residual risks or incidents to the general machinery regulations (GMR) 2.1 appointee or HOD
- Ensure all statutory requirements and standard operating procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure compliance to ISO system within the PEM Department and log non-conformances in line with the company procedure.
- Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards are adhered to in line with the legal requirements.
- Actively identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical and electrical activities and conduct HIRA for all projects
- Ensure updated and availability of critical spares and plant technical documentation at all times.
- Provide mentorship and on-job-training (OJT) to artisans, learner technicians and apprentices.
- Tech Mechatronics Engineering
- 5- 8 years’ experience in production equipment maintenance
- Experience in PLCs and SCADA, HMI systems, machine drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, fans, compressors, heat exchangers, lubrication systems, bearings and electronic fault finding and repairs
