Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and customers both local and overseas.
- Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers.
- Ability to quote on numerous technical RFQ’s
- Secure orders
- Once orders received, negotiate best possible prices and payment terms.
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure a timeous delivery.
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Manage the supplier relationship with regards to effective and frequent communication.
- Coach and provide guidance to the Technical buying team with knowledge of industry best practice and through experience gained.

Minimum Requirements:

- Matric preferably with a suitable qualification in Supply Chain and Logistics.
- Minimum of 6 years’ proven experience working as a Technical Buyer within a shipping environment.
- Working knowledge and experience in working with an ERP System.
- Experience in supplier sourcing and pricing negotiations essential.
- Valid Code 08 Drivers Licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Service delivery and customer focused.
- Professional with excellent business acumen.
- Ability to work with huge volumes of quotations and orders within a pressurized and deadline driven operating environment.
- Excellent time management and attendance.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
