We are seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Commercial Finance to provide financial support and strategic insight across the portfolio of companies within our Group.

The role will focus on 2 key areas:
a. Providing strategic financial support to start-up/ scale-up companies in the portfolio.

b. Monitoring the performance of individual growth companies and the overall investment portfolio.

You will be working directly with the Group CFO to support portfolio companies throughout their growth journey as well as improving the quality of financial information across the portfolio to facilitate proactive decision making and investment analysis.

Within the role of Head of Commercial Finance you will be responsible for the following across the portfolio:

- Overseeing and reviewing the work prepared by outsource accounting teams and portfolio company finance teams.
- Preparing and maintaining financial models, budgets, and scenario analyses
- Ensuring that financial targets and forecasts are consistent with the company’s strategic objectives & growth plan.
- Overseeing the implementation of robust financial controls and governance.
- Identifying the key profitability/ value drivers for portfolio companies and developing reporting frameworks.
- Monitoring the performance and reviewing stakeholder reports from mature growth companies in the portfolio.
- Undertaking financial gap, trend, and insight analyses
- Involvement in fund raising, M&A, and exit activity.
- Supporting the Group CFO on periodic portfolio performance reporting.
- Assisting the Group CFO on conducting reviews/due diligence processes on potential new investments and other ad hoc projects.

To succeed within the role of Head of Commercial Finance you will have experience in a similar position, and will ideally have the following skills:

- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to research and understand new companies/ industries
- Proven track record in managing working capital and efficient cash management for early-stage companies
- Organised, methodical with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient with business intelligence and data visualisation tools
- Experience in building financial models
- Highly effective business partner with expansive senior stakeholder management. Able to advise, challenge and influence
- Able to multi-task and cope with pressures of conflicting work priorities
- Experience in an M&A process advantageous
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across teams but is also comfortable working independently on own initiative
- Experience with Xero accounting software (preferred)

**Salary**: R95,000.00 - R110,000.00 per month
