NOBALISA PROJECT MANAGER VACANCY

Axium Education, founded in 2009, currently serves 4000 learners across two education districts in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Based in the rural village of Zithulele, its vision is to see every rural student leave school with purpose, agency and options. The organization has ambitious plans to grow its quality and reach over the next three years through partnerships with government, donors and other non-profit organizations.

**Key duties and responsibilities**

The Nobalisa Programme is a school and community-based early literacy programme that aims to support rural children towards reading for meaning in their home language by the time they finish Grade 3. The programme currently operates in 25 schools across two education districts in the Eastern Cape, with ambitious plans to grow the programme over the next five years.

The Nobalisa Project Manager will be responsible for the overall quality and functionality of the Nobalisa programme across all sites, including the management of the Social Employment Fund partnership and other funding partners. They would manage the Nobalisa mentors and the Nobalisa Growth Manager. They would form part of the Central Education Team and lead the Nobalisa leadership team. They must be willing to travel on a regular basis between multiple sites, including overnight or extended stays away from their normal place of work.

**Monitor and Manage the Overall Quality and Functionality of the Nobalisa Programme across all sites.**
- Managing efficient systems and data management to increase the effectiveness of projects and activities
- Oversee the delivery of successful projects within scope, time, and in budget
- Manage cross cutting project budgets
- Input into the design of project concept proposals
- Steer project implementation processes
- Oversee and manage macro project budgets and support coordinators in activity budget planning and operations including

procurement and event management
- Confidently track deliverables and targets with the ability to lead teams

when changes need to be made
- Report writing skills

**Oversee the management of Schools, Government Partners, Funders and other Stakeholders Manage the Nobalisa Leadership Team across all sites**
- Manage, monitor and support the work of the Nobalisa Mentors
- Oversee professional development and capacity building of the Nobalisa Mentors
- Ensuring that all Axium team members retain their passion, creative spark, core values alignment across multiple teams and sites -Maintain a unified and empowering culture of team learning
- Support the development of literacy resources and lesson plans for all

Nobalisa teams
- Oversee scheduling of recruitment and other HR functions, planning ahead to pre-empt future resource needs

**Oversee the Growth of the Programme across all sites**
- Manage, monitor and support the work of the Nobalisa Growth Manager
- Guide and support teams in a time of change and growth to new schools
- Formalize existing training and curricula to enable accreditation and widespread adoption into the education system.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Postgraduate Education, preferably in Education, project management of related field.

- Driver’s license.
