**Work of Role Output**:

- Effective operation and supervision of the vertical shaft during a shift
- Effective administration of systems
- Effective operation and supervision of the vertical shaft during a shift

**Responsibilities**:

- Material movement
- Ore movement
- People movement
- Timely & accurate information
- Effective systems for management and technical control used
- Reports completed to required standard
- Housekeeping standards

Planning and controlling in allocated area through the ability to:

- Ensure effective maintenance of equipment and infrastructure in area of responsibility
- Effective movement of men, materials and ore to support operational performance and safety
- The protection of assets in the area of responsibility
- Allocate work schedules to subordinates
- Plan throughput through liaison with supplier and customer areas and the logistics teams
- Assist during breakdowns or emergencies
- Ensure that materials and equipment are available for the
- shift’s requirements in the area

Area standards through the ability to:

- Ensure that safety standards are adhered to
- Ensure that operating standards and procedures are applied and understood by the team
- Execute any reasonable work instruction provided by any senior or team members to ensure the effective completion of task or safety
- Monitor contractor work in area
- Monitor and advise on the operation of machinery to optimize performance
- Effective administration of systems
- Ensure that material usage is to standard and reclaimed material optimized
- Good employee relations

Area team relations through the ability to:

- Effective two-way open communication with employees in area
- Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with Logistics Coordinator and other service suppliers
- Control shift rosters, sickness implications, training and leave schedules to ensure the area is adequately resourced
- Ensure that employees have clear work expectations
- Hold disciplinary and grievance inquiries
- Supervise all subordinates fairly
- Ensure that employees work on a safe environment

Area team optimisation through the ability to:

- Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees in the area
- Encourage cooperation and teamwork
- Support the induction of new employee
- Identify potential conflict situations and minimise the implications
- Identify ideas to create motivation
- Ensure competency of employees for the work required

Effective administration of systems: Legal compliance through the ability to:

- Completion of legislated reports and registers
- Ensure that required job instructions are available to employees
- Maintain applicable Safety, Regulations, The Acts, Codes of practice and standards
- Complete safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area

Legal compliance through the ability to:

- Completion of legislated reports and registers
- Ensure that required job instructions are available to employees
- Maintain applicable Safety, Regulations, The Acts, Codes of practice and standards
- Complete safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area

Role administration through the ability to:

- Conduct and / or participate in required meetings including Safety
- Compile an accurate shift report
- Establish procedures for abnormal work requirements which fall outside of standard procedures for the area
- Ensure that accurate labour records including overtime
- worked are maintained for the area

**Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- Blasting Certificate
- Onsetter Certificate
- Law and Standards with Supervisory Courses
- Minimum of 5 years shaft experience
- English literate
- Basic computer literacy
- Valid driver’s licence

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Tzaneen, Limpopo: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
