Our client a sustainable social solution company is looking for a social scientist with a passion for working with communities and proficient in all areas of socio-economic development with exceptional report writing skills.

**Responsibilities**

Compilation and implementation of the company's core products and services:

- Social and Labour Plans (development and compliance reporting)
- Local Economic Development Projects
- Socio-Economic Development Programmes
- Stakeholder Engagement (including Public Participation Processes)
- Baseline Socio-Economic Study Surveys
- Social Impact Assessments
- Sustainable Development Action Plans
- Resettlement Programmes
- Sustainability Reporting
- Compliance assessments and gap analysis
- Client Liaison
- Conducting workshops and presentations

Research, data analysis and reporting
- Undertake qualitative (issues-based processes) and quantitative (survey) research, data analysis and reporting of social science activities related to fieldwork.
- Develop findings, provide logical and systematic interpretation of findings, develop recommendations and conclusions, and formulate plans

Project Plan
- Develop, implement and monitor basic project plans related to a specific field of work

Stakeholder engagement
- Undertaking the public participation processes, stakeholder engagements and community consultations to achieve objectives related to the project or field of work.
- Identify and record perceptions, issues, concerns and suggestions.
- Compile stakeholder engagement reports when required.

Knowledge Development and Management
- Contribute to the growth of the company's knowledge capital by documenting and storing all research and intellectual property obtained

- Proficient in all areas of Socio-Economic Science.
- Research skills and methodologies
- The process whereby interested and/or affected parties/peoples (I&Aps) or stakeholders are provided with the opportunity to become involved in projects and to raise their comments, issues, concerns and suggestions regarding the project
- Presentation Skills - Well-established skills in presenting to large audience groups
- Project Planning
- Sustainability reporting and standards

Familiar with Mining and other relevant legislation
- Functional knowledge of the Mining Charter, the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), the Codes of Good Practice of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR)

**Educational Background**

Honours (Masters preferable) in area of specialization. Preferably published in area of specialization.

**Prior Knowledge & Skills**

Excellent command of English (written and verbal), and at least one of the following Tswana, Zulu, Sepedi, Afrikaans

Advanced academic and scientific report writing

Advanced stakeholder management skills

Intermediate project management skills
