The WRC is a schedule 3A public entity and adherence to required legislation is imperative to the organization’s strategy and values.

The (WRC) seeks to appoint a suitably qualified professional to serve as a Chairperson of the Audit Committee.

**POSITION**

**AUDIT COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON**

**(4-year contract)**

**DUTIES**

Fulfil oversight responsibilities regarding external and internal audit, internal control, financials, risk management, governance, information communication technology, compliance. Direct and lead the Audit Committee as well as account to the Board. Discharge all responsibilities as contained in relevant legislations and or the Audit Committee Charter.

**REMUNERATION**:
Compensation will be in accordance with rates as determined by National Treasury. Schedules in this regard are issued annually with specific hourly or daily rates. All other refundable expenses are based on the WRC’s related policies in line with the National Treasury guidelines.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

A three-year qualification in Accounting/Auditing/Corporate Governance/Financial Management/ Risk Management/Compliance management. Applicants must have at least 10 years’ experience serving as an Audit Committee Member in the public sector environment.

**KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED**

Knowledge and understanding of internal controls, major accounting and public sector reporting, organisational performance management, corporate governance. Knowledge of public sector legislation and policies including GRAP. Must be independent and knowledgeable on the status of their positions as Chairperson of the Audit Committee.

Strong leadership, ability to maintain independence and objectivity, excellent communication skills, ability to inspire confidence and maintain a balanced view, analytical thinking, facilitation skills, courage to challenge discussions and ask relevant questions, willing to dedicate effort, time and energy to serve the interest of the public. Encourage openness and transparency, healthy professional skepticism and professional approach, excellent relationship builder (among committee members, management, internal and external auditors).
